The author is Doctor Hugh Cameron, a world famous orthopaedic surgeon, who for years was at the forefront of the development of artificial joints. He is a Professor at the University of Toronto in Surgery with previous cross appointments also in Pathology, Bioengineering and Graduate Studies. He was an Adjunct Professor of Engineering at the University of Waterloo. He has published more than two hundred scientific articles and two technical books, one entitled, The Technique of Total Hip Replacement.

Hugh Cameron is an orthopedic surgeon who lives and practices in Toronto, Canada. His life’s work was centered on the research and development of artificial joints, in which he played a significant role. For more than thirty years, he, with a number of other surgeons, crisscrossed the world teaching joint replacement surgery. He has written two technical books on surgery, two historical books, and one novel. This is the second novel in the series titled To Slip the Surly Bonds of Earth, which explores the likely and potential future.

Edna Quammie is a nurse who moved from the USA to Canada. Ms. Quammie and Hugh Cameron met in Toronto General in 1972 and have been friends since then.
